Terra & Co Brilliant Black Toothpaste

When it comes to whitening teeth naturally, activated charcoal is named as one of the most common ingredients. There are a few whitening treatments with activated charcoal on the market in the form of a paste or a powder. The prices of these products differ, as do the reviews that rank them from best to worst purchase ever. Before starting my review on this Terra & Co. Brilliant Black Toothpaste*, I want to make one thing clear – despite what some critics out there say, you can whiten your teeth naturally. However, it takes longer, you need to be more disciplined, and the results won’t be as dramatic as using harsher teeth whitening methods. But if done right, not only it will deliver desired results, but also will care for your pearly whites.

The Brilliant Black Toothpaste, although called toothpaste, is actually an intensive whitening treatment. Let’s talk about the packaging first. The treatment comes in a white plastic tube (113 g), which looks cheap and unattractive. I really don’t want to sound rude here, but for $29 the packaging should be more appealing. However, Terra & Co. is a fairly new company, so hopefully, this is only the beginning.

See the ingredients:

Water, Diatomaceous Earth, Xylitol, Baking Soda, Organic Coconut Oil, Activated Charcoal, Citric Acid, Peppermint Essential Oil, Tea Tree Essential Oil, Xanthan Gum.

Speaking about the product, I like it a lot! The ingredient list is clean, vegan, and cruelty-free. Among activated charcoal, the Brilliant Black Toothpaste contains other whitening components such as diatomaceous earth and baking soda. Also, it includes organic coconut oil, peppermint essential oil, and tea tree essential oil, which are strong antibacterial and antiplaque ingredients.

If you’ve ever used any products containing charcoal, you know they are black, and this toothpaste is no different. It will make your teeth (and your bathroom sink) jet black while you brush. Nevertheless, this should not scare you, because it won’t stain the teeth, on the contrary, it will only make them whiter. I’ve tried using the toothpaste with my electric toothbrush, but it’s just too messy so I recommend any manual toothbrush or the Brilliant Black Toothbrush (included with the toothpaste) to save your walls from some black water art. The Brilliant Black Toothbrush is ultra soft, so it’s suitable even for those with sensitive teeth and gums.

After using the treatment twice a day for almost two weeks, I can definitely see visible results – it did whiten the teeth at least 2-3 shades. I think it would be even more effective if I could bring myself to ditch coffee.

The Brilliant Black Toothpaste is available online at Terra & Co for $29.99 (US only).

I have been looking for something like this, it ticks so many boxes. No nasties and a teeth whitener.

I saw this on Petit Vour and wondered if it was worth the try. Thanks for the review!

Very promising indeed! As a clinical research coordinator, I’m quite familiar with many types of teeth whitening products and this brilliant black toothpaste for starters is amazing! It’s not gritty like all the other teeth whitening items that are available in the market. NO SENSITIVITY. NO PAIN. Getting those pearly whites has never been this trouble-free.

I have been using this toothpaste for a couple of months. It is a nice product and I don’t mind the taste. But the strength that it takes to get a small amount of toothpaste out of the tube is ridiculous. And now that there is less toothpaste in the tube, it is almost impossible to get it out. I have tried other charcoal
toothpaste brands, which do the job and are easier to extract from the tube. So, unless Terra & Co. changes the packaging, I am not likely to re-purchase this product.
