CHIADERM+ Chia Balm And Serum

Chia Derm SkincareThere’s a good reason why chia seeds are being called as one of the most powerful superfoods. It’s the highest natural source of omega 3 and omega 6 acids, has high antioxidant levels and is rich in minerals and vitamins. The oil promises a number of beneficial effects: soothes, regenerates, and fights fine lines. That’s exactly what you can expect from CHIADERM+ Balm and CHIADERM+ Serum. CHIADERM + is a beauty brand from the US that has a small range of skincare products made with chia seed oil. Here’s my opinion about them:

Chia Derm Natural SerumCHIADERM+ Serum ($39 for 15ml)
The serum comes in a dark blue glass bottle with a dropper. It has a smell of fish and nuts, which reminds me a bit of a seaweed hydrosol. The scent actually winds up after a few minutes, so it’s all good. The CHIADERM+ serum contains a single ingredient – chia seed extract. The serum has a broad use and can be used not only for your face but also for the hair, hands, and any dry, dehydrated, and eczema-prone spots you’d like to soothe. Its consistency is runny, which makes it easier to apply. Also, it’s non-sticky, and my skin feels silky and comfortable after using it.

Chia Derm Natural BalmCHIADERM+ Balm ($42 for 50ml, sample size available)
This balm comes in a dark blue jar with a black lid. The balm itself is solid, so you’ll need a spatula to take it out (a spatula isn’t included). It melts quickly once rubbed between hands and becomes oil-consistency. I expected it to be greasy, but my skin absorbed it pretty fast (I used it for my hands). However, I still feel it’s more suitable for mature, dry skin or as a spot treatment. Because of its natural antibacterial properties, the balm promises to soothe skin and to reduce the appearance of redness and scarring.

See the ingredients:

Glycine Soy (Soybean) Oil, Beeswax, Salvia Hispanica (Chia) Seed Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Oil, Hydrogenated Soy Polyglycerides, C15-23 Alkane, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Honey, Royal Jelly Extract, Propolis Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil.

I’ve never tried a chia seed in my skincare products before (I love eating them though), but I’m interested in trying this brand. I’m especially interested in the balm!

I was about to mention Gaia Creams and OLO, but then I read the comments 😉 What Jana said. I also swear by Gaia Creams’ serum. Chia might be one of my favorite ingredients in skincare. I hadn’t heard of Chiaderm before, so thank you for the introduction 🙂 xx
