Avril Foundation Clair (Light) – Review and Swatches

Avril-Organic-Liquid-Foundation-Clair-LightI recently stumbled upon a new brand called Avril beaute. It’s a French company, which offers various beauty products made with natural and organic ingredients. Being in a search for a perfect organic foundation, I gave a go to their liquid foundation in the shade Clair (Light).

The package is an elegant 30 ml black tube with a light green Avril logo on the front and a full ingredient list on the back. The scent is sweet and pleasant, almost candy-like. Avril beaute liquid foundation has three shades available in its range: Clair/Light; Nude/Natural and Golden. I’m usually quite pale, so I picked the lightest shade possible. Because it’s summertime, I have a slight, accidental (I am not a beach girl, for sure) tan, so currently, this foundation is a perfect match for my skin tone. I would describe the shade as light and neutral color with some slight yellow undertones. I wish there would be a lighter shade in the range.

It comes out of the tube runny, but dries out very quickly on the skin, so you have to apply it quickly. I found that it is easier to apply with a foundation brush but still needs to be blended into my skin with fingers. Otherwise, it just sits on my face like a mask. It doesn’t look completely matte, more with a slight glow, but not shiny at all. Also, it doesn’t feel sticky, which is a huge advantage to me, because who wants to walk around with wet paint on a face, right? The foundation evens out skin discoloration very easily, and redness on my cheeks is less visible, so I should say it covers imperfections well enough. I have plenty of light freckles, and it covers the lightest ones alright too.

Avril beaute Foundation Light Clair SwatchesIn my opinion, if you have a normal, combination or oily skin, this foundation is a fantastic choice.

Is there a foundation/BB cream you recommend for dry/dehydrated skin?

There are many great natural BB creams for dry skin, i.e., La Mav, Pacifica, Green People.
