John Masters Organics Lavender & Rosemary Shampoo

John Masters Organics Lavender Rosemary Shampoo for Normal HairI’ve read so many good reviews about this John Masters Organics Lavender & Rosemary Shampoo for normal hair, so I had to try it. Obviously, it’s one of the most popular John Masters Organics hair care products and is even featured in many well-known magazines, including Harper’s Bazaar (named as one of “natural beauty wonders” there, so it says something!).

John Masters Organics Lavender & Rosemary Shampoo’s key ingredients are lavender, which normalizes scalp; rosemary, which stimulates hair growth and adds volume; also, soy protein, which strengthens hair and makes it look fuller; more extracts like white tea, chamomile, yarrow are also included in the list. Sounds like a great bunch, right? The scent is a mix of rosemary and lavender (more lavender, though).

See the ingredients:

Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice*, Aqua (Water), Babassuamidopropyl Betaine, Decyl Glucoside, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Sodium Lauroamphoacetate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Sulfate, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Root Extract*, Panthenol (Vitamin B5), Glycerin, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil*, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil*, Achillea Millefolium (Yarrow) Extract,* Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Extract*, Equisetum Hyemale (Horsetail) Extract*, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract*, Chamomilla Recutita (Chamomile) Flower Extract*, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract*, Symphytum Officinale (Comfrey) Leaf Extract*, Borago Officinalis (Borage) Seed Oil*, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Linum Usitatissimum (Flax) Seed Oil*, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Sorbitol, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Wheat Amino Acid, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Sulfur, Tocopherol, Linalool†, Limonene† * Certified Organic † A natural component of essential oils. Vegan.

The package is a very sophisticated brown bottle. The shampoo is thick dark brown liquid, which does not foam at all (which is not a must for me, but I know many people like foaming shampoos, so just stating the facts).

I would describe my hair roots oily with dry ends, and I tend to wash my hair every other day. My reviews about John Masters Organics are usually positive because I enjoy its skin care, hair care, and body care products very much. So, it came as a surprise that I didn’t like this Lavender & Rosemary Shampoo. I’ve tried and tried, and tried again until I’ve used up almost half of the bottle and then just gave up – the product obviously wasn’t for me. It’s really unfortunate that the shampoo left my hair felt lifeless and without any promised volume. However, I think this shampoo has so many awards for a reason, so I reckon maybe because my hair doesn’t fall into a “normal” category, it just wasn’t the right shampoo for me, not that it’s a bad product itself.

John Masters Organics Lavender & Rosemary Shampoo (237ml) is available online at John Masters or LoveLula for $26/£17.

For me it was super good shampoo for several washings, but after I used a half of the bottle – my skin started to itch 🙁 I didn’t even think, that the itchines is caused by the shampoo – I replased all of my hair care products and after replasing this shampoo to another organic shampoo – the itchines stoped 🙁 But I really loved the smell it left on hair! I don’t like levander smell (sorryyyy for that 😀 ), but the scent on hair was wonderful!! Also, like I remember, it foams quite well 🙂

I tried all JMO shampoos, but I don’t remember a lot about them 🙂 So, now I am waiting your post about Reconstructing shampoo, because I tried it ages ago and only several times.

In the beginning when I started using this shampoo, was not happy at all. But then I learned a trick. This is the ONLY natural shampoo which can rinse all oil out of your hair (if you hot oil your hair, coconut oil or any other oil). I mix organic coconut oil and extra virgin olive oil in equal quantities before going to bed, next day I shampoo my hair with this shampoo *the trick* – wet your hair thoroughly and take little amount of shampoo in your palms and rub it (it will lather) and then use the shampoo.… Read more »
