Joik Skin Perfecting BB Cream

This post is actually long overdue because I’ve been meaning to review Joik Skin Perfecting BB Cream in June when I first started using it but haven’t gotten around to it. Speaking about the brand, Joik is a small Estonian green beauty company that started its business with making lovely soy candles. Later, it expanded its collection to skin and body products. This BB Cream is the only makeup product in the range. The reason why I like BB creams so much is that I’m all for effortless makeup. I prefer using beauty products that are easy to apply and non-fussy while making skin look even and natural.

The unscented BB Cream comes in a black air-tight container with a pump. It might seem like it’s thick and heavy when you get it out of the bottle, but once you start to apply it on the skin, it feels like a moisturizer: hydrating, comfortable, and does not cling to dry patches. Another thing that I like a lot about this BB cream is that it dries out completely matte. Dewy finish base products are lovely, but a matte finish is way better for an everyday look.

Speaking about the coverage, like many BB creams, this one is also pretty sheer. It evens out the skin tone and gives a nice natural finish, but doesn’t hide any major (or, to be honest, even minor) imperfections such as pimples or redness. As for longevity, it stays in place pretty much all day, but if you have combo/oily skin, you might need to use additional products for setting it.

Joik BB cream comes in two colors: light, which is suitable for fair skin, and medium, which is ideal for darker/tanned skin. Joik says that medium is also suitable for fair skin to give a slightly tanned complexion, but I don’t know, this sounds too risky, so I think a self-tanner would be a better option for that. The shade I use is Light, which looks like a warm dark yellow color as a hard swatch, but it blends into the skin seamlessly without leaving it looking too yellow or unnatural.

So, to sum this up, if you’re looking for coverage, this BB cream might not be a good choice for you, but if you’re looking for an easy to apply vegan and natural BB cream for a basic everyday look with a sheer matte finish, this product is well worth a try.
