Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant Sticks

Schmidts Natural Deodorant SticksSchmidt’s natural deodorant sticks, for me, were one of the most exciting releases in 2015. I have expressed my love for Schmidt’s natural deodorant jars in this post before, and I knew that it was only a matter of time until Schmidt’s decided to expand its range. Turns out, I was right (what a good feeling, hehe!).

The main ingredients that help to absorb unwanted moisture and fight odor in these deodorants are arrowroot powder and baking soda. Essential oils have additional antibacterial qualities that make the deodorants even more effective.

Schmidts Natural Deodorants Lavender Sage and Ylang CalendulaSchmidt’s Deodorant sticks* are pretty easy to apply, but I find it’s better to warm them up first. This is actually nothing unusual if you don’t want your deodorant to cake into balls in your armpit. You can warm it up by placing your warm hand on the deodorant and holding it for 10-15 seconds. This instantly softens the deodorant stick and allows a quicker, smoother application. I don’t remember where I read this trick, but it works for me, so I thought I’d share.

The deodorant rubs in clear and absorbs fast. It has the same protection power as the usual Schmidt’s jar deodorant. For me, it’s about 7 to 8 hours, but it depends on how busy my day is. I often tend to reapply it during the day once or twice just to be safe.

Lavender + Sage has a pleasant, but pretty intense lavender scent. This is the strongest scent from all of Schmidt’s deodorants that I’ve tried (all, except Cedarwood + Juniper), but since I love lavender, the scent doesn’t bother me at all.

See the ingredients:

Maranta Arundinacea (Arrowroot) Powder, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Fractionated Coconut Oil), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Lavandula (Lavender) Essential Oil, Salvia Sclarea (Clary Sage) Essential Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E).

Ylang-ylang + Calendula has a much softer scent, so if you like sweet floral scents, this one is for you.

The size of each stick is 75 grams, so they are bigger than Schmidt’s jar deodorants, which are 57 grams. Both products retail at $9.99. Available online at Schmidt’s Naturals (US), Ecco Verde (Europe).

Have you tried these new Schmidt’s deodorant sticks?

I have a couple of natural deodorants open at the minute but I’m so intrigued to try these and I’ll definitely be making a purchase when I’ve used the others up!

Currently I’m using their Bergamot+Lime Deo Jar and I have to say I’m very very impressed with the results. However the application is a bit tricky at times… I tried a lot of organic deos, with all kinds of shapes and textures from creams, to sprays to roll-ons but so far this Schmidts jar and another cream called Hippy Paste worked out the best. If the stift version has the same effectiveness as the jar then they’ve got themself a new fan 😉
